Golf in Anguilla

Despite Anguilla's reputation of catering to upper class tourists, the availability of golf on the island is minimal.  What the golf scene lacks in quantity, however, it makes up for in quality, so golf fanatics who can't bear to go their entire Anguillan vacation without teeing off can make arrangements to do so at one of the best courses in the Caribbean. 

Anguilla Golf Association

The Anguilla Golf Association was formed in 2001, before a golf course even existed on the island.  Through the help of the organization, two courses have since opened, and multiple golf education programs have come to fruition.  Unfortunately, frequent visitors to Anguilla may not join the association, as one must be a local resident, property owner, or hold a valid work permit.

Pitch and Putt Golf Course

The Pitch and Putt Golf Course is located in Sandy Ground on Well Road.  It is comprised of nine holes, ranging from 35 to 90 yards in length, and two greens.  The facility is a great resource for novice golfers, because it is easy enough and short enough that beginners can take their time to learn how the game is played.  Two clubs, a wedge, and a putter are the required tools, which can be rented on site.  The cost of one round is $10(USD) per person.

Temenos Golf Club

The Temenos Golf Club in West End is Anguilla's first (and only) full 18-hole championship golf course.  Named one of the Best Courses in the Caribbean and Mexico, the course is managed the Cap Juluca Resort.  The course was designed by Greg Norman, and features picturesque views of Anguilla scenery, and off in the distance, the island of St. Maarten can be spotted from the course as well.  The course is a total of 7,063 yards, and welcomes golfers of every skill level to try it out.  Regular green fees begin at $225(USD), and you can rent clubs for $55(USD).  You can contact Temenos Golf Club at  264-489-5602.
